Mayor says, "No decision has been made" amid reports of new Police Commissioner

REPORTS | Baltimore may have a new police commissioner

BALTIMORE (WBFF) -- Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald has taken the job as Baltimore’s Police Commissioner, according to reports.

The NBC station in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas is reporting that Chief Fitzgerald is heading to Baltimore.

The Mayor of Fort Worth says she has not received an official letter of resignation.

Mayor Catherine Pugh's office says, "The process is still underway and no decision has been made as of yet."

Councilman Brandon Scott says the City Council has no knowledge that a new commissioner was selected.

Fitzgerald was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he earned an MBA and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Business Administration.

He has more than 25 years experience as a police officer he was appointed to the Philadelphia Police Department in 1992.

Dr. Fitzgerald became Chief of Police in Fort Worth in October 2015. Prior to that he was Chief of Police in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
