ICE RESCUE| Hidden dangers
BALTIMORE (WBFF)-- As we welcome warmer temperatures after an extreme cold snap, there’s a hidden danger across the state many of us may not have considered.
On average the CDC estimates ten people a day die from unintentional drownings and some of those involve icy waters. The Howard County Fire and Rescue Service trains routinely for that sort of emergency.
With more and more neighborhoods having water management ponds in them, the chances of someone venturing out on icy ponds is growing.
Rescue crews gave FOX45’s Joy Lepola some lifesaving advice for anyone who might find themselves in freezing water after falling through ice.
