New program hopes to improve health care in West Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WBFF) - A new partnership could improve health care for thousands of Baltimore City residents.

The University of Maryland Medical Center and the Baltimore City Fire Department are teaming up for a special paramedicine program.

It will provide follow-up health services to patients transitioning back home from hospital care, as well as emergency care to patients in the field to avoid trips to hospital emergency rooms.

The two-year program is designed to help underserved residents in six ZIP codes of West Baltimore.
