Off-duty Baltimore officer shoots at burglary suspect in Prince George's Co.

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. (WBFF) - An off-duty Baltimore City police officer shot at a burglary suspect in Prince George's County Friday afternoon, reported Prince George's County Police Department.

Police believe the suspect, who fled the scene and remains at large, was not struck by the bullet.

The incident happened on Silver Hill Road in District Heights, when the off-duty officer saw the suspect break into the officer's truck, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.

When the officer went to confront the suspect, he fired his gun "toward the now-fleeing suspect."

Police said the suspect's car was recovered nearby.

The suspect is described only as a black male with dreadlocks, wearing a black T-shirt and black pants.

Baltimore police spokesperson T.J. Smith said on Twitter: "We are aware of this incident and our [Baltimore Police Department] Special Investigation Response Team is in Prince George’s County in reference to this situation."
