BALTIMORE (WBFF) - "Please pray for Taylor."
Loved ones of the 7-year-old girl shot in southwest Baltimore Thursday afternoon are making that emotional plea as the child fights for her life in the hospital.
Dozens of relatives rushed to the hospital after learning the news. FOX45 spoke with two of her cousins who wanted to let the city know who Taylor is. They are asking all of Baltimore to pray for her and her family.
“We just ask everybody to lift lift her up in prayer,” said her cousin Talear Hall. “Her name is Taylor.”
Family members say the smiling little girl is the 7-year-old critically wounded after being struck by a bullet as she was riding in the backseat of a car near Edmondson and Loudon Avenues.
“We don’t know how bad it was,” Hall said. “We just know it’s bad.”
Hall and cousin Ebony Ward want people to see Taylor’s face and know her name.
“Yesterday, she was just singing, dancing,” Ward said. “She could bring the light to a dark room.”
“She loves to dance, loves to sing. She’s just really smart,” said Hall. “She’s one of those children that says the stuff that you don’t think a child would. It just shocks you every time, because she is so smart.”
As loved ones paced outside the hospital Thursday, police chaplains tried to offer some comfort.
Her cousins are pleading for people to pray.
“Pray, pray today, pray for her because she’s fighting,” said Hall, who drove by the spot where Taylor was shot ten minutes before it happened. Her two kids were in the car.
“I mean, where the hell do we draw the line in the city with the violence? Where?” she asked. “It’s really sad that her mother has to sit in there and wonder what’s the fate of her 7-year-old baby.”
Family members are also echoing police and asking for anyone who knows who did this to speak up and come forward.
They say Taylor has three little sisters and one big brother and dozens of extended family, all hurting right now.
