Shooting, pursuit ends outside Johns Hopkins Hospital

BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Baltimore Police are looking for others involved in a shooting in East Baltimore Tuesday.

The shooting led to a police pursuit that ended outside Johns Hopkins Hospital.

According to police, officers were in the 2100 block of Aiken Street when they witnessed two groups of people shooting at one another.

An SUV fled the scene and officers followed it to Johns Hopkins Hospital.

"An individual suffered a gunshot wound and it appears the operator of the vehicle thought they were coming to the emergency side of the hospital," explained BPD Chief Spokesperson TJ Smith.

Smith said three people were inside the SUV.

Two of the people were taken into custody, while the man suffering from a gunshot wound was rushed into the hospital. Smith said the man is expected to survive.

"It looked to me like a guy climbed out of the back seat and he just sat down on the ground," described a witness who was working a nearby food stand. "I thought maybe he got shot."

The witness shared cell phone video with FOX45, showing the large police response to the hospital.

"All the cops just came from everywhere. They [police] weren't sure where they [suspects] went and everyone was pointing over there," the witness said, gesturing towards the hospital.

What prompted the shooting remains unclear.

Smith said police are still looking for others involved, including other possible shooting victims.

Anyone with any information on this case is asked to call police.

The man shot in the incident has not yet been identified.
