New York police are hunting for a couple, but not for the reason you might think.

A man proposed to his fiancee in Times Square, police said, only to drop the engagement ring, and it was all caught on camera.

"WANTED for dropping his fiancée's ring in Times Square! She said Yes- but he was so excited that he dropped the ring in a grate," the NYPD tweeted. "Officers rescued it & would like to return it to the happy couple."

Surveillance video shows the man unsuccessfully scrambling on the New York City sidewalk to find the lost rock.

New York Police are now trying to identify the couple. The report officers fished the jewelry out of the grate - now it's cleaned up and ready to be returned to it's rightful place on the woman's ring finger.

The NYPD requests anyone with information to call 1-800-577-TIPS or direct message the NYPD Tips Twitter page.
