Connect to Congress: Lawmakers respond to Trump's offer of bipartisanship

President Donald Trump's call for bipartisan unity in his State of the Union address Tuesday was met with harsh skepticism from Democrats who do not trust him and a degree of pessimism from Republicans dismayed by the negative Democratic reaction to the speech.

Though members of Congress on both sides see potential areas of compromise and shared values that could bring them together, they remain deeply divided over Trump's policies and his behavior during his first year in office.
