Kathleen Cairns is a general assignment reporter WBFF/FOX45 News. She a storytelling Journalist and the winner of 28 Emmy Awards (NATAS: National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter based in Washington DC).

Most recently, in June 2016, she won a regional Emmy award for 'Reporter, General Assignment'. Also in 2016, Kathleen was named 'Best Reporter' by the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association.

Kathleen has been with FOX 45 News since its inception in 1991. During her time she has covered a wide scope of stories including the Pope`s visit in 1994, Live Coverage from BWI on September 11th, 2001, and she provided extensive content from several scenes during the Sniper attacks in 2002. Some of her award winning reporting also came from the coverage she provided during the Baltimore riots in 2015.

Kathleen is a Graduate of the State University of New York at Albany. But she considers herself a 'Terp', since her husband taught, and her son graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Kathleen is an advocate for the disabled. She has done extensive reporting on people with special needs and the challenges they can face.

During her free time, Kathleen likes to swim and hike. She is also likes to read a good novel that has anything to do with history, particularly World War II.
